Does a Pitcher foot have to START off on the mound ?
What if you stand behind the mound and step onto it and then release the ball. Is that legal ?
Curious minds would like to know thanks
I could be wrong but I belive that you have to start on the mound and I believe that in USSSA you can start anywhere again I could be wrong get Jasons to let ya know
2008 ASA OFFICIAL RULES
RULE 6 - PITCHING REGULATIONS (SLOW PITCH)
Section 1. PRELIMINARIES.
A. The pitcher must take a position with both feet firmly on the ground and with one or both feet in contact with the pitcher's plate.
EFFECT: Delayed Dead Ball, Illegal PITCH
B. (Seniors (55 or older)) The pitcher may take a position from the front edge of the pitcher's plate to six feet behind the pitcher's within the 24inch width of the pitcher's plate with both feet firmly on the ground.
EFFECT: Delayed dead Ball, Illegal Pitch
C. The pitcher must come to a full and complete stop with the ball in front of the body. The front of the body must face the batter. This position must be maintained at least one second before starting the delivery.
EFFECT: Delayed Dead Ball, Illegal pitch
D. The pitcher shall not be considered in the pitching position unless the catcher is in position to receive the pitch.
EFFECT: Delayed Dead Ball, Illegal Pitch
E. The pitcher must not simulate a legal pitch while not in contact with the pitcher's plate.
EFFECT: A dead ball should be called, an illegal pitch ruled, a warnimg is issued, and repeated action would result in the pitcher ruled illegal, and removed from the pitching position.
