Monday night, the grass at Bishop was soooo long that it was like walking through snow while playing in the outfield. First, how does the crew show up to line the field and then never contact the mowing crew to let them know that the lines are there but the grass is way too long. Second, doesn't anyone go and check on the crews to make sure that they are doing their job? I believe registration this year was $450.00 right? Gee, I hope we don't have to start bringing a mower with us to the games, just in case, like we used to bring rakes to Joe Ruwet field before the new drainage was installed, "just in case" that is just ridiculous. I could almost bet my eyesight that the men's fields were mowed on Monday....what about the women's fields? Maybe Torrington Park and Rec is just trying to drive everyone out of town to play on other town's leagues. Smarten up Park and Rec. Get your heads in the game.
never seen a thread like this before...
The women get the bad fields whereas the men always get the good fields. This has been an on going problem for as I've heard for years and for the 4 years I've been playing a problem.

Be happy with what you have.....You want to see bad fields go down and play some Coed in Waterbury....guys from Waterbury would kill to play on the Torrington Girls fields

Several men went to Park & Rec. Commission meeting last Wednesday to complain about Toro Fields because they were "so good". They had pictures of the field conditions... when all was said Mark L. said they did do very little to Toro and the next day work started to bring the Toro 1 back up to a playable condition.
So my suggestion here is take the same path the men did. Get the pictures of the fields , along with a few managers and show up at the next commission meeting, and ask why... Then let Mark L. explain whyDontknow he is in charge, right???

Apparently, the mower was broken and that's why the grass was so long.
They cancelled games the day after the 4th of July due to the fireworks clean up but they don't cancel games due to the fact that a mower breaks and the grass is 6 inches deep? Interesting. Anyway, congratulations gentlemen on your pristine field conditions!! ENJOY!!!
